Schatzi Eurasiers
Who
we are
Welcome to Schatzi Eurasier’s, where we hope to share our love for this very special breed with you! Schatzi means little treasure or gem in German. Anyone familiar with this breed or, who has the honor of having one (or multiple because we can’t seem to stop at one) in their family, will agree that a little treasure is exactly what they are. We reside just outside the Bavarian village of Leavenworth, WA.
The development of the Eurasier began back in the 1960’s in Germany. The breed evolved from Wolf-Chow (Wolfspitz and Chow Chow) to eventually add in the Samoyed making the breed officially recognized as the Eurasier on April 4th, 1973. The intention when creating this breed was to have a calm, intelligent, well-balanced personality and temperament. They would be loyal to their people and would have a wait-and-see attitude towards strangers. This is the Eurasier.
How we discovered the breed
We first discovered the breed back in 2017 when we were determining which breed would be a perfect match for our personality and lifestyle. We loved the Chow Chow but also knew we had a very outgoing lifestyle and we wouldn’t be able to bring a Chow Chow everywhere with us like we desired. I was always fond of the Samoyed but they have a higher energy level then what was ideal for us. I grew up with Wolfspitz in my family and was very familiar with the breed. Once we began our research to find the perfect breed for us we stumbled upon the Eurasier and fell in love. A few months after falling in love with the Eurasier from afar, I happened to meet my first Eurasier in Olympia, WA. I will never forget that day. I was in my car with my sister, who had no clue what a Eurasier was mind you, which is common, Eurasier’s aren’t dogs that we frequently see out in the ‘wild’ (ha). Anyways, I see this person across the street with a dog about to get into their car and I say to my sister “Omg I think that’s a Eurasier over there” and me being the outgoing person I am yell to this stranger across the street “Sorry but is that a Eurasier?!”, and it just so happened to be one! That day my choice was confirmed that I in fact knew one day I would welcome a Eurasier into our family. Fast forward 3 years to 2020 when we finally brought home our first Eurasier, Braxena’s Bakari Echo.
